Sara Ramirez
Sara Ramirez was born in Mexico. She's an American-Mexican actress. Also, she sings. Her mom raised her in the USA and she was subject to many racial taunts that made her feel like someone who was not wanted. When she was in 9th grade she started to feel more secure after being applauded by her teachers for her performance at school's audition. This not only increased the confidence of her, but was also a change in the direction in which she went on to pursue her professional career. In 1992 she graduated with her diploma from the New York's Julliard School. She was 23 when she had her first Broadway show with Paul Simon's The Capeman, and her debut film, You've Got Mail were both major breaks. Her biggest break came with her performance as The Lady of The Lake as she appeared in the first Broadway version of Spamalot. The show won her the Tony Award and received great reviews for her role. Later that year, as Callie Torres on Grey's Anatomy for ABC, she gained greater fame. As a well-known singer, she also has released songs and plays. She's also an activist who fights to protect LGBT rights.
